Grand Forks Youth Baseball Association - Travel Team Information
Travel teams will be competitive teams representing Grand Forks Area Youth Baseball Association. The purpose of these teams will be for the development and growth for those kids that demonstrate advanced baseball skills/abilities and want to play at a higher competitive level. We will strive to provide an environment where kids enjoy the game.
Here's how to register: While registering for the Grand Forks Youth Baseball Association Local League, check the box indicating your player’s interest in trying out for a travel/tournament team. This is not mandatory, and you can express your interest at anytime before tryouts. Additional information will be passed via email and website posting. |
All players need to initially register as a member. This is $300. After teams are selected a separate travel registration with an additional fee will be required. Fees are as follows:
11-15u AAA/AA teams is $350
9u and 10u AAA/AA teams $250
Age divisions: Available for 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U, Age divisions will be based on the player’s age on April 30 of that season. |
Coaches: Coaches are selected by the Grand Forks Youth Baseball Association board of directors. Every coach will be required to complete a background screening and abuse prevention training and Cal Ripken coaching course. |
Team formation: Independent evaluators will select teams. Tryout dates will be communicated via email and posted on the league website. |
Other Information: Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth Tournament Trail Teams: If there are enough players at an age group for 2 teams, they will be divided into equal teams at the 9U level, and AAA/AA teams at 10U and older levels (assuming sufficient coaches volunteer). 9u AA teams and 10u-15u AAA teams will follow the Cal Ripken tournament trail. |
Time Commitment: 9/10u Players will play 2 days a week with their league teams. Some travel teams will stay and have a travel practice after league team practice but this up to the coach of each team. 9/10u travel players can expect 1 additional week night of games or practices and 4 weekend tournaments
For 11u-15u AAA/aa players, The will play practices or games 3-4 days during and an additional 5-6 tournaments on the weekends.
For teams that are considered A level teams, these players will play 2 days a week with an additional 1 night a week of practices or games. A teams will play 3 additional tournaments on the weekend. |
